Summer Break

Thank goodness, summer break is officially here!

I finished the spring term at Pitt last Friday and I can't even begin to tell you how good it feels to have a break.

I'll need to enjoy the R&R and store up energy for next fall. I'll have a heavy load with five classes. I know some of the younger kids would scoff and say five classes is nothing for them, but I'm no spring chicken anymore, and I still have an eight year old at home who is like having three children in one. (Those of you who know me, know that I'm not kidding...) My son is incredibly smart, cheerful and loving, but, well...let's just say he's also very much of a hand full. He has more energy than my two older kids (who are now 26 and 23) ever had combined. All things considered, five classes is a tough load to carry for me, but I'll play "Scarlett" and think about that later. :)

Right now, it's summer break, and I'm heaving a sigh of hard earned relief.

I'm still doing some updating. I'll be working on replacing the side bar links I lost during my last updates, and also working on my website over the next couple of weeks.

Today is a lazy day for me. I'm cleaning my apartment, collecting supplies from the grocery store and, if I can get to it, I'll be dabbling with some oil painting for the first time in over a year this afternoon.

I'm also looking forward to getting to a few writing projects this summer. It's been awhile since I let the muse out to play. She's very excited about the upcoming opportunity. *grins*

Summer Break is almost here...

I'm actually coming up for air from the spring term at Pitt now. I have two more exams to go in this last finals week and then it's Summer Break...Yay!!

As you can see, I've made some updates on my blog. I'm searching for a new layout. I've found some beautiful beach templates, but I'm unable to make them work on New Blogger. Grrrr. In fact, in the process of trying, I accidentally deleted some of my widgets and lost many of my links. I'll be updating the side bar sections with all my favorite places to hang out as well as other information just as soon as I can. I'll keep working on it, but in the mean time, I've added some beach shots on my sidebar to help with the summer spirit. I do love the beach.

I've also updated my MySpace page, and I had better luck there with the beach atmosphere. Stop by and say hi when you get a chance.

On the writing front... I made it to the RT convention this past weekend and I had a great time meeting many of my fellow writers. I also had a lovely opportunity to meet with the boss ladies from The Wild Rose Press. It was great to meet both Rhonda and RJ, and they are so very nice.

I also got to meet and spend some time with my friend Donna Michaels. It was the first time we met in person after chatting it up for about five years now in one of my groups. She's a lovely person inside and out and I was so happy to be able to give her a hug!

Well, you all take care. I'll be back more often now to chat and relax. After Friday when I take my last final exam for this term, I'm on...Summer Break, Baby!!
