Snow days

My son's school is closed for the second day in a row today. We've got beautiful big snowflakes falling gently over the pines and a blanket of white covering the land.

Many schools and activities are canceled in the area. I couldn't find a sitter and it seems there aren't any places that offer drop-in services for childcare these days, so I'm "grounded" for the day.

There's not much to do about it, so I've made a conscious decision to put my frustration aside and enjoy the unexpected time at home.

I've actually accomplished a lot. I got some extra studying done and I'm planning to do more today. My laundry is caught up, my home is neat and clean, and I even rearranged my living room furniture.

What's on the agenda for today? More studying. But, I've also promised myself some R&R time if I get the work on my "to do" list done.

With exams, essays, and reading assignments floating around in my brain, I thought it might be nice to give myself a little treat later. You know, a well rounded life and all... *grins*

What am I going to do? Well, I was thinking about this. There are lots of things I could do.

If I had my easel set up, I'd start a new oil painting to hang on one of my walls. I've been itching to do that recently. Or, I'd sit down with a good book from my TBR (to be read) pile that's sky high. Or, I'd take a walk and enjoy the sunshine and the warm balmy summer breeze...oops, lol. It's the middle of February and there's a snow storm outside... Okay, scratch that idea. For now.

Maybe I'll hop a plane to Belize and take a walk on the beach, and then go to Egypt to see the pyramids, then Italy to sample some fresh pasta with a nice glass of local wine, then Japan to visit my daughter, a stop in North Dakota to see my son, then, because it's frigid in ND right now, I'd need to swing by Belize again to warm up on the beach... Oh wait, that all costs money.

Well, it was nice to dream a bit. I'm curious. Do you give yourself R&R time now and then? What would you do?

Me? Hmmm... I guess I'll watch Oprah.

Have a great day. Stay safe and warm. I have to get my work done by 4Pm. :-)

Love the way you think, Lee. Let's visit the pyramids together and stop by an archeological dig.

My days are quiet but my mind always races. I don't have as much R&R as I should. It's hard for me to sit still.

I love to watch movies for relaxation, especially funny ones like DUPLEX.

We are sharing the same beautiful snowflakes. Aren't they floaty!

Oh, you're getting snow!!!!

I want snow.

I'd settle for the book. Escape to some place else through it's pages. I wish I could do that right now, but I've got a house to clean and pack.

Enjoy your day.

Lee, the storm has finally moved south of us. I couldn't eat another chocolate. LOL I hope your weather settles down now too. Hasn't this winter been hard! let's fly to Hawaii.

I've finished the children's book I'm writing and have sent it on to the illustrator. This has been an adventure and I LOVE IT. :D

I am excited for your future and know you're going places, both author and career-wise. :D

You're a great friend and I'm lucky to have met you.

Hugs, JJ

Noooo, actually I don't know, lol!
I'm not sure there's any such thing--can't say I know anybody who claims one at the moment.
But I will think of it as a goal. (wink!).

And only people who don't GET snow WANT it, Bailey, nee-ner, nee-ner. ;)
